Spravato (esketamine). Spravato carries an FDA Boxed Warning for sedation; dissociation; potential for abuse and misuse; and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. It is a Schedule III controlled substance available only through a restricted program (Spravato REMS). Patients are monitored for at least 2 hours after each dose and must not drive until the next day after restful sleep. Common side effects include dissociation, dizziness, nausea, sedation, vertigo, anxiety, and increased blood pressure. Spravato is not right for everyone; your psychiatrist will decide if it’s appropriate.
